# 241, Marriage for everyone

241. A few weeks ago people connected to some kind of information feed learned that the US Supreme Court deemed unconstitutional if any US state opposed gay marriage.
As president Obama welcomed this decision opponents used the chance to heckle him. I myself keep being a critic regarding some of his politics but agree with him on this one.
Living in Germany in the 80s & early 90s I began to highly appreciate the historic leadership of king Frederick the Great who was key not only in introducing potatoes to German & European palates but most importantly in accepting all sorts of immigrants (from the Iberian peninsula, East Europe, etc) who contributed soon after on bringing Germany to the front of sciences, philosophy & arts.
King Frederick famously said (& lived by): Jeder soll nach seiner façon selig werden, meaning 'each one must become happy the way he sees fit'.
Therefore -myself being a skeptic of marriage in general- I can not but greet the possibility for everyone (no matter her or his sexual orientation) to get married if she or he wants to run the risk.
