Those of us who share Mario Vargas Llosa's libertarian worldview have several years ago given up the notion that he may be seriously considered by the Swedish committee to receive the Literature Nobel Prize...  The reason for our pessimism was nurtured by the socialistic or lefty positions typically embraced by Norwegians & Swedes after World War II...
Nevertheless, as we were recently experiencing a notorious end of the ideological confrontations we were accustomed to -even to the point of hearing this year Fidel Castro's public recognition of Communism's fracas in Cuba- our notion was turning quickly into hope...
Now we're glad to salute a Stockholm's spring more than 40 years after Prague's older one...
