# 105, on BlackBerry restrictions

105. The government approved restrictions for BlackBerry usage first in the United Arab Emirates and newly in Saudi Arabia -meaning that no messaging and internet access will be allowed- shows the stupidity of states wanting to curve individual freedoms. I wouldn't be surprised if this also becomes a norm in Chavez's Venezuela or Ahmadinejad's Iran.
If those governments fear espionage, they have to think just a little bit more to conclude that -by GOD's will- since the inception of electronic communications, technically every conversation or message using those means could be intercepted and analyzed by pretty capable entities. Those entities don't need to put in place a server in the middle like RIM (the Canadian company behind the BlackBerry smartphones), once they have the right set of powerful satellites, antennas, and drones.
